On 16th December 2020, the council invited the East/West/WBR working groups to an online meeting to discuss the possibility of opening Imperial / Townmead Road.

The WBRA were thoroughly dissatisfied with the presentation. It was not based on the correct WBRA proposals and contained a number of factually incorrect or misleading statements.

Indeed the whole framing of the LBHF presentation appeared to be post-rationalising the appropriateness of the original SW6 traffic scheme, so as to avoid admission that changes are required to create a genuinely sustainable scheme that works for all.

Persistant narrative

This is further evidenced in the council’s responses to Public Questions at the Full Council meeting on 20 Jan. They persist with the narrative that traffic on WBR is better than it was before. This Gaslighting approach from LBHF undermines the genuine concerns and daily realities of residents who can clearly see the facts outside their windows. Disruption due to COVID has also provided a short term smoke screen to conceal the failures of the current TCPR. We are delighted that LBHF are consulting, but we don’t feel they are listening.

As such, the WBRA has felt it necessary to refute many of the myths presented to us and have prepared a detailed rebuttal to the presentation.

REBUTTAL OF LBHF PRESENTATION MADE ON 16TH DECEMBER 2020 BY JOHN GLASWORTHY

IN RELATION TO USE OF IMPERIAL/TOWNMEAD ROAD AS THE SOUTHBOUND THROUGH-ROUTE IN THE SOUTH FULHAM TCPR SCHEME

Rebuttal issue date – 31st January 2021

WBRA Proposal

The WBRA has a detailed understanding of the area and holds a long term vision for SW6. We are in regular communication with residents and businesses across the area. We are fully aware of the differing viewpoints and how these may compete with each other. Our goal it to unify SW6 and satisfy as many of these agendas as possible.
